There are a lot of choices out there when it comes to Tig/Stick welders. If you’re looking for machine that can handle a heavy load without crapping out on you, you can’t go wrong with the PowerARC 140 from Everlast. It comes in at 25 pounds and has a capacity of 140A. It uses 120/240V power, has a digital display, a 35% duty cycle, and comes with a decent carrying case.
Given it’s diminutive size and capability to keep up with larger models, the price is justified.
Lightweight – just less that 25lbs
smooth and steady arc
quick connect terminals
weak customer service
low quality hose
online reviews question units longevity
The Everlast PowerArc 140 is intended to be a capable and portable welder. That said it’s not going to be the type of unit you can use on heavier jobs. It has some great features but is lacking in terms of beefiness. If you’re looking for a basic home welder this could be just what you’re looking for. But if you’re looking for something you can rely on for a business you’ll be better off with one of the more pro grade models.
It is DC capable only so if you’re looking to weld aluminum, you’ll need a model that is AC/DC capable.
On a side note, it is one of the most energy efficient welders in its market segment. The dual voltage capability offers some decent flexibility.
